18 Fun Halloween Gifts From Iowa

It’s fun to decorate for Halloween, and when you add the satisfying feeling of supporting a local maker, it’s an even better experience. I’ve been shopping around some small businesses in Iowa and found great items for Halloween — whether you get it for your house or for your friend’s.

Looking for less creepy and more autumn decor? Here’s a collection of made-in-Iowa fall decorations.

Sage Candle Co.
The Old White Shed
Just Bunnin It

Sage Candle Co. has a variety of scents for the fall, but if we’re going for a Halloween look, obviously Spooky Season is the scent to pick out. If you’re in the Cedar Falls or Waterloo area, you can get free pick-up for your order!

Signs purchased from The Old White Shed are all handmade. The one I like is the rustically cute “Welcome to our Web” black and white sign. The Old White Shed is a small business out of Defiance, Iowa.

Jamie makes all sorts of beautiful textiles in her Van Horne shop, Just Bunnin It. Seriously, I love all the colors in her typical garlands. But, she also has made one adorable garland just for Halloween — a not-scary-at-all ghost garland.

Naughty Cat Apparel
Chic Peach AF
Leatteco

With a name like Naughty Cat Apparel, you can bet most items with Linsey’s designs on them are shirts, tanks, that sort of thing. But I stumbled across her kitchen towel sets, and then her pillowcases, and I just fell in love with her realistic and macabre designs. Just check out these bat flour sack towels!

Chic Peach AF decor style can be described as minimalist. And yet, each thing in her online shop makes an impact, just like this fun “Sup Witches” mat for Halloween.

Cedar Rapids-based Leatteco has a small selection of sweet, crocheted coasters so if you find something you like in her shop, get it now. Take these black cat coasters. I’ve never seen anything like them, and few remain in her shop.

Giddy Designs 515
Liberte Lifestyles
Mae’s Cottage Primitive

The great thing about Giddy Designs 515 is that the canvas signs are all interchangable. If you can’t make up your mind on which Halloween sign to get, you can get more than one. Tiffany designs a variety of holiday decor signs, so the “Feeling kinda witchy” sign is just the beginning.

There are a surprising number of Halloween-themed workout clothes out there. Take a look at Liberte Lifestyles‘ online shop for some inspiration. I particularly like her weight-lifting skeletons.

Mae’s Cottage Primitive is a cozy online shop that looks full of vintage items. The trick is, they’re all handmade! She has a couple of potion bottles that are particularly great for Halloween. The Halloween decor is one-of-a-kind, so don’t wait to purchase something you like.

KayLee Bands
Little Iowa Creations
Ruby and Ghost

Handmade accessories? Yes, there’s an Iowa maker for those. Check out these darling bat hair clips by Des Moines-based KayLee Bands. She makes head wraps, bows, and headbands, as well.

There can’t be a Halloween list without a mention of “Hocus Pocus.” I love this handmade sign by Little Iowa Creations. Janessa’s other signs have a more general fall touch.

Ruby and Ghost‘s earthy ceramics aren’t necessarily holiday specific, but the phases of the moon mugs are the perfect subtle nod to Halloween.

Hudson and Birch
The Sugar Barn
54 Rustic

Hudson and Birch is full of delightful and creative signs and ornaments. What’s more impressive is that all these vintage-looking paintings and signs are handmade, like this trick-or-treat bucket canvas print.

Speaking of treats, the handmade chocolate candies, cookies and lollipops from The Sugar Barn are the perfect gift. The Halloween options range from cute to a little creepy, but all in a fun way.

For more fun decor items, check out the Norwalk shop 54 Rustic. Between the handmade wooden garland and soft fabric cottons, I can’t decide which I like best.

Mind and Mineral
Cutting Pretty
Evelyn Mae Creations

At first glance, the little ghost plant stakes look simple enough. But Iowa City-based Mind and Mineral makes stained glass decor, and those friendly little ghosts are made-to-order!

Sticking with the ghost theme, Cutting Pretty has a ton of ghosty shirts — mostly retro styles — but also a boot scootin’ spooky shirt fit for a cowgirl. Top one of the ghosty shirts with a tiny ghost necklace from Evelyn Mae Creations. The shop also has tiny black cats and pumpkins on necklace cords, as well.

Fun, cute and unique Halloween gifts and decorations, this collection is all handmade in Iowa!
